Inspirations from Kazan

Organised by CMDI Group and SAMIT Event Group, with the support of the European Foundation for Support of Culture (EUFSC), Sunday 20th February 2022 will see the Tatarstan State Symphony Orchestra take to the stage under the baton of Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Alexander Sladkovsky. Accompanied by First Prize and Golden Medal recipient at the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition, and Winner of the IX Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition Hannover and Singapore International Violin Competition, violinist Sergei Dogadin (Russia), Sladkovsky and the orchestra shall perform an exciting programme of works beginning with Rashid Kalimullin’s little-known but critically renowned Symphonic Dances, before continuing with a violin arrangement of Alexey Shor’s Verdiana that has been specially prepared by the contemporary composer himself. Initially written for clarinet and orchestra back in 2015, Verdiana is a unique and playful work that weaves together allusions and intertextual references to many of Giuseppi Verdi’s best-loved operas, building on the older composer’s works in three intriguing movements. After a short intermission the evening will come to a close with a rendition of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1, the earliest notable work from the famous composer’s extensive catalogue, which is guaranteed to leave audiences impressed.
